Tools Represent A Teacher

TOOTHPICK-reminds us to look for the good qualities in our students. You may be the only teacher who says something positive to them that day.

RUBBER BAND-reminds the teacher that they have to be flexible. Things don't always go the way we plan, But flexibility will help to work it out.

BAND AID-reminds the teacher that sometimes we do more than teach, That we help heal hurt feelings, broken dreams, And lend an ear to a problem.

PENCIL-reminds us to be thankful and we should list our blessings daily, But also encourage our students to list their blessings And to be proud of their accomplishments.

ERASER-reminds us to allow students to know we are human And make mistakes just like they do, and it's ok. We must all be able to learn from our mistakes.

CHEWING GUM-reminds us to stick with it And encourage our students to do like wise. Even the impossible task or assignment can be accomplished By sticking to it.

MINT-reminds us and our students we are worth a mint. (We may not be paid a mint, but are worth one.)

CANDY KISS-reminds us that everyone needs a hug, Kiss, or warm fuzzy everyday. (All teachers, students, parents, and even administrators)

TEA BAG-reminds us we need time to relax, Go over our blessing, and take time for others. Family, husbands, wives, friends, children need quality time together.

A teacher must be willing to show their students how much they care =D

On being a teacher.

Posted by Dymna John at 12:25 PM 0 comments

Some things have happened recently to make me think more about the role of a teacher. My mind keeps turning over the phrase- anyone can teach someone something, but not everyone can be a teacher. I like to think of the role of the teacher as comprised of different parts- teaching is twenty five percent providing information, forty percent guiding the students and thirty five percent getting along with the students.

1. Providing information simply means that- giving notes, lectures etc, where the teacher shares with the students information that he has read or that is in the text book or other literature.

2. Guiding the students- this includes :Making students aware of the all the various sources of information available, e.g.

i) printed matter such as books, newspapers, journals, articles, instruction leaflets, brochures, and even things like cereal boxes, road signs etc.,

ii) electronic media, e.g. radio, television, internet , movies, etc. ,

iii)people, e.g experts and everyone else ( everyone has a story to tell and a lesson to teach or information to share) ,and

iv) tours, visits and travel opportunities.

Teaching the students how to use information. The teacher can help the students to decide on the purpose of the information ; how to gather information, through means such as by interviews, surveys, observations, making notes, memorizing, recording, and analysing and critical reading; how to sort information and use it, e.g. how to relate pieces of information to each other, how to derive meaningfulness from the information and how to apply the information to their lives or occupations.

3. Builiding a relationship with the students. If the teacher’s role involves providing information and guiding the students, then how the teacher feels about these students must be central to the role. Teachers also experience feelings in the classroom. These include feelings of ‘dislike’ for some students’ behaviour patterns, anger, frustration about the job and their role, anxiety and daily personal stress, fear of not doing a good job, incompetence, boredom, embarrassment, discrimination (based on intellectualism ,classism , racism, gender, etc.) The students bring their own feelings, including their own dislike of teacher and others in the classroom, fear of failure, threat of punishment, embarrassment, boredom, frustration (work too challenging or not challenging enough, pace too fast or too slow, not enough choice ) invalidation and incompetence. A teacher having to cope with any of these feelings either of his own or the students will have a hard time keeping his attention clear enough to fulfill 1 and 2. above. And it is known that at any moment in the classroom at least some of these feelings are running.

Part of Me 1

Now, I really missing at home....huhuhuhu :( If I could be at home now...(doremon...doremon I need you) I thinking about my grandparents, parents, and others family members. Here I list down my mum's siblings that was a part of my life and bring something special in me. Check it out:

Here is my 1st aunty...her name is Flora and we usually call her mummy kandazon. She is the most sporting aunties I ever have. Always very humble to her nieces and nephews. As for her hobby she like shopping and traveling very much. Har! part that she really good is cooking. Her cooking talent was really marvelous. She also good in decoration part and always being 'mangsa' to do this kind of job. She currently waiting for her 'pence' about 1 years more, want to relax at home and enjoying her traveling.

For the picture to the right...that's my 2nd aunt. Her name is Jusania and we call her Ina Timput. Like mummy kandazon she also working her full-life becoming a teacher. Always being a counselor at home and really motivated but sometimes not (hehehe) One that I like about her is, she like to 'belanja' all her 'anak2 buah'. But, she never mind about that cos, she was single-mingle and a little bit richer to spend her money to her nieces and nephews(hahahaha). Religion was a very important part in her life and will going to died with it.

Picture on the left was the 3rd aunty. kikiki there was a little bit 'sarcastic' about her. She really like this kind of work -->cleaning up. We call her Ina Chal but her real name was Nanie. Working in a kindergarten make her really suit with her name (hehehe). But she love to baking cakes and when the cakes was not well done a.k.a 'kurang sikit bentuk' she will throw it away in the rubbish bin(hahaha). She always 'angin kus-kus' sometimes and we know that so we are not going to make her mood going down too a negative level (hehehe)

Ha! goes to my mum...her full name Javita Josue and among my cousins they usually call her Ina Ndak (funny name arrr!!!) She love cooking and green finger. She was damn in taking airasia, she say 'bagus bayar mahal dari naik iho airasia' kakaka=D. She sometimes moody with her daughters and only son that was really 'pemalas and ogumu karenah' But, I can say she was a wonderful mum cos she always caring about me and my siblings. And the important things is she want her daughters and son have a great education.

This is the only son of my grandparent and his name is Fredoline calling as Papa Lin at home. He have a big body. His voice is outstanding(hehehe) very loud. I can say he a little bit arrogant and emmm...i can't explain more. He now working as a teachnician and struggle in making money. Love planting trees and have an orchard of his own. He quit funny sometimes and a bit annoying at the other side. He love karaoke...and his voice is good. (I think)

My mum last siblings Jenny we call her Ina Chi, call by Lord on the 29th October 1998. She is the most lovely aunt. I miss her so much. May her soul rest in peace and with God in heaven.

Dymphna

Looking For Love

Posted by Dymna John at 11:34 PM 0 comments

It' s been a while...coming to this month of April. So happy =) but sometimes sad =(
Some quotes still remind in my mind is "Love never killed, it's dies". Since Fr. Stanley say this words I've been thinking so deep, but I couldn't find the meaning of this sentences.(grump)
I have everything I wanted -- but I wanted all the wrong things. I was so unhappy with certain things that been in my life. Who ever care what we what to do? Who ever know what we a feel about? Who ever understand the pain feelings inside our heart? Who? Nobody care...nobody even bored to think about you.
But, in our life we go round and round until one day we found someone that really care of our self. Hmmm...so long with this kind of feelings make me feel more guilty. I'm scared, golek2...pusing2 my head....(wooooh...my world spinning around)
I think I need some more times and space to think of myself 1st...then I'll think about other people feeling...
